I can’t believe that the end of the year is upon us! As always many people will be assessing their goals and planning for next year. It’s never too early to start looking back and planning forward. I’ll be taking some time off next month so I’ve started now!
Goodbye 2011
This has been by far the best year for me online. My business looks completely different then it did at the start of 2011. For that, I am excited!
Two Major Goals Accomplished
- My biggest goal was to create $4-5K per month on a consistent basis. Done. SAHWEEET! 🙂
- I delivered a healthy baby girl. I’ll upload some pics soon. She is a JOY!
Wow, when I read this post about last year I realize that I have actually done what I wanted to do! I wrote:
For me 2011 is about less is more and quality is better than quantity (especially when it comes to niche blogs). It’s about being decisive and committed.
YES! I broke the cycle! I was decisive about what business model I was going to pursue and I stayed committed to making things happen in that business model. Less IS more especially when it comes to FOCUSing! I wrote:
Going forward I am cutting out all other work that I do and I will only focus on my Amazon product review pages and my PLR shop. It’s time to create the type of money and lifestyle that I truly want from my Internet business.
Well, I let go of the niche blogs/Amazon product review pages and ONLY focused on my PLR business. That says A LOT. In order for anything to happen big then it’s important to focus on only ONE project at a time (until you get it to bring in what you want it to bring in). I’m sooo happy I did that. I cut out the noise and made myself ACCOUNTABLE (to myself)!
So all of my effort went into turning my PLR business into a full time income. But of course I’m not done…there is still so much more to accomplish in this business.
2011 Lesson Learned? Here’s my top two:
- Put your offers out there. Many times we get scared into thinking that nobody will want what we have to offer. But most of the time that is totally NOT TRUE. How to get over that? Put.it.out.there!
- Build relationships. You can’t get where you want to go by yourself. You need strategic relationships/partnerships to grow your business.
Hello 2012
I’ve been doing a lot of searching, researching, thinking, reading and I really have a BIG feeling that 2012 is going to be even more all about social connections.
With the constant changing going on with the SERPS it’s even MORE important for us business people to connect with others in our market via social networking venues, video, blogs, etc. It’s even more important to build your marketplace and create your own products while promoting other people’s great products as well.
I see more emphasis being placed on branding yourself because people are naturally generally interested in one another. For example, if there are two people selling a pair of shoes and you personally know or know someone that knows one of the shoe sellers (for lack of wording lol) it is highly likely you will go to them to buy the shoes. Right? I would. It doesn’t matter what I do I love getting recommendations first.
So with that said, I am going to be lining up my business we these thoughts. I want to connect with my customers and subscribers more. I want to blog here consistently, video consistently, socialize on Google+, Facebook, Twitter more. I want to provide more value. I want to reach higher.
Top Priorities For 2012
There are some things I can put my finger on as to what I want to accomplish in my business for 2012. So here’s a short list:
- Grow PLR business to $10K/month! (I’m half way there…so why not, right?)
- Launch PLR Business Training. This is in response to those that have reached out to me over the year who want to build a successful PLR Business. This business has been so good to me. I want to see those who want to do this biz model successful too!
- Video. I will get into Videos and Video Marketing in 2012…something I’ve wanted to do for a loooong time.
- Manage my time and plan better. I wing it waaay too much!
- I REALLY want to go to a live event. Not sure which one yet though. NAMS? Suggestions anyone?
- Redesign this blog and PLR sites.
- Outsource more (work with VA more).
Looking at my old post also makes me realize how important it is to journal your journey at times…just so you can look back and see how far you’ve come. I didn’t realize how much I really did accomplish until I read that post.
Overall, it’s been a great year, but I’ve got a lot to work on. What about you?
I want to know!! So how did you do this year? Did you meet and exceed your goals? Was this year everything you hoped? Where did you fall short? What are your plans for 2012? Let me know below!
Sounds like you’re doing great Lisa – I’m so happy for you!
I’ve just signed up to the PLR business training list – that’s definitely going to be one to watch.
Things are going great for me this year, too – I’m actually quite excited about what next year will bring.
I just made a not of what you said about social aspects playing a big role recently and also into next year. I’ve been working on that for my websites for over a year so it’s great that it’s finally starting to pay off.
I also like where you mentioned about promoting others’ products too. That’s something that I haven’t really started doing in my PLR business so I suppose that’s one of my goals for 2012.
Thanks for sharing your goals and ideas!
Hey Nathan,
Seems like I see you every where so you seem to be doing the social part well! One of the best things that I’ve noticed selling PLR is that PLR sellers are a little different in that we promote our ‘competitors’ PLR as well as our own. The reason being…I know I can’t provide all the content that there is demand for. So it’s a win-win-win situation! Love that. I just noticed that you have an affiliate program so I’ll go over there and sign up and see what you got! 🙂
Congratulatons! This for achieving your online goals and for the birth of your beautiful baby. Two great things for 2011.
My own PLR business is developing slower than I had hoped but I know that this could be due to the lack of focus as I have so many things that I like doing.
Anyway I wish you all the best for 2012, I am sure that you will smash through your 10k goal.
Victoria 🙂
haha! At least I’m getting the social part right then!
Yeah, I’ve noticed that will PLR sellers – I think it’s great to promote others and, as you say, there are so many niches it’s impossible to ever have too much competition!
Thanks Lisa, I’m signed up to yours too! Just got to get promoting now! 🙂
Hi Victoria! Lack of focus has been my main issue. I’m really trying hard NOT to split my attention and focus so that I can actually see results and it’s working! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Lisa,
I am going to NAMS in February. It would be amazing if you went also.
I’d love to hang out and learn from you.
Jeremy
Congrats on your success Lisa! To do all that while pregnant/ looking after a little one is amazing 🙂 I have not focused solely on my PLR business. It has done well and grown a lot, but it makes me wonder if I should focus 100% on that for a while.
I would love to go in February. I’ll have to see if I can swing it. It would be so weird talking face to face with people who you come in contact with online. Weird but really cool. I hope I can make it!
Hey Ruth! Thanks! Yeah there is so much more I could be doing but with all that’s going on here it can be quite difficult. This year has really shown me that focusing on one business model works. I don’t have to do everything now…I can get stable in one area before moving on to another.
Again, Lisa, I’m impressed with all that you manage to accomplish day by day while pregnant and then having a baby and other kids to care for.
Yes, go to NAMS! I’ll be there and we can bounce ideas off each other!
Peggy
Peggy!! Yes that would be soooo cool! I just got to figure out how to get there…
Congrats on meeting your goals! I have learned so much from this one blog post…so much that I can implement into my own business. 2011 wasn’t the year for me, as I spent more time working on ghostwriting or in the “planning/decision making” stage than I would have liked.
I think it would be best for me to focus on one business plan as I head into 2012. I was planning to do my PLR business, create a couple of niche sites, and work on putting together a product or two, but I think all of that (excluding the PLR business) will be placed on the back burner. PLR is something that I really want to be successful with, so I need to give it my all before trying to do something else.
I also want to network more with other PLR providers, and possibly partner with other marketers for new PLR related offers. It’s hard to be successful all alone…so I plan to work on building my online relationships in 2012 as well.
Good luck in 2012 Lisa!!
Hey Kecia, I’m glad that you can take something from this post and implement it into your business. I really think when I was saying oh I’ll do my niche sites, some ghostwriting, some PLR, etc. that I was fooling myself into thinking I could do it all. The truth is that you can do it all..but not all at the same time! I wanted something I was doing to become a success so I had to give up on the other things and put all my energy into the thing that had the most potential at that moment. I NEVER gave anything my all to see what would happen. I was always afraid that I would miss out on something else. Once I got over that – I really started seeing results! The more I do business the more I realize the battle is really in my mind LOL!
What a great post to read Lisa! It’s so inspiring reading this. I too have had the best year I’ve had in my online business. This year has been about learning that I can say NO and that when I do, it actually opens up the door for better clients or bigger jobs 🙂
I vote for NAMS too. I’ve only been to one of them but it was so worth it!
Hello, It’s great to see your great success. I also admire the fact that you’ve laid out your plans for the year ahead.
Hey Lisa,
I just signed up for your PLR training list. I was hoping that you would do something like that! Thanks for this post – it has helped me to define my goals.
Hey Tishia! Isn’t it great to step out and do things in your biz that opens up the door to even greater success? Love that! Take action and you’ll soon see things falling into place! Congrats on your success too!
LOL well it’s not so much the biz model (you can make money online doing sooo many things) as it is the ability to commit to one and make great things happen in it. Thanks for stopping by!
Hey Jen….thanks for signing up! I hope I can be of some help… 🙂
That’s so awesome that you were able to meet your goals like that. I also know firsthand just how hard it is working while being pregnant and having other little ones to take care and know how much focus you must have had to reach your goals.
2011 wasn’t all that great but I did make more than I did in 2010 so I count that as a success. I would have liked to make much more but I still have the problem of bouncing around from thing to thing. (Need to get over that soon)
Right now I am setting some goals for 2012 and I’m really setting the bar high because I really need a push in the you now what right now. I’ve actually named my goals “Go Big or Go Home”… post coming soon 🙂
Good luck in 2012 and have a great Christmas and time off!
Congrats on your success, Lisa. I always like to plan ahead as well. Right now, my main focus is my blog, but since it has been around a while and gained some authority in the search engines, I am considering launching a PLR store to diversify my online income.
Actually, I purchased a program to teach me how to do it as well as a domain, but I’ve been lazy and haven’t done anything with it. Reading about your success with it inspires me to get off my butt and get a move on it. 🙂 I’m such a procrastinator…ha, ha, ha.
Joey
Tiffany I know you can totally relate!! How’s the little one doing? That bouncing around from thing to thing really got on my nerves! I had to put a stop to it! Can’t wait to read your post – Go Big or Go Home!
Hey Joey, planning is so important! Procrastination is a biz killer haha! Get moving on that store…it could be a great source of income. 🙂
Lisa,
Great to read this post and see the ideas you have for 2012! I’ve spent most of this year learning, reading and testing different avenues of online marketing so I could find what areas I most enjoy that will fit with my “I get bored REALLY fast” personality.
I’ve narrowed it down, found someone to keep my multi-tasking inner monster in check, and now it’s time this month to set my goals & focus on what I enjoy most.
First goal is to consistently replace my job income so I can get off the truck. Once that’s done, things will move MUCH faster!
To a great 2012…for you AND your family!
Debi J
Thanks for the encouragement, Lisa! I signed up for your list. I had made up my mind a year ago to start my PLR business, but got distracted. Plus after seeing so many offers for packs of thousands of PLR articles for extremely cheap, I knew I couldn’t compete with that. But you obviously are, so maybe there’s still hope.
Hi Arlette! There is hope! 🙂 PLR is in demand so you can definitely compete. Most of the time it comes down to sticking with it. If you consistently produce quality content then you shouldn’t have a problem.
Lisa,
Congratulations on your achieved success! I do believe the lack of focus is the number one culprit for failure when it comes to marketing online…and that’s something that I’m also narrowing down for the upcoming year of 2012 — it’s time we take a look at what’s working and what’s not and cut out all the clutter that’s in the way.
I never realized how much the lack of focus was the cause of me not getting any where. I have to fight it all the time because already this year I’ve got too many projects I’m working on. 🙂
So it takes a constant conscious effort to narrow down what will take you closer to your goals (whatever they may be) and do only those things. I’m typing this fast so I hope that made sense lol!
