6 secrets to a more successful bizOver the last 7-8 years, I’ve done a LOT of things to make money online. I went from building affiliate/adsense blogs to freelance writing to teaching/mentoring.

I feel like I took the longest path possible (like seriously TOO long) to get to where I am today – a place where I am actually happy with the work I do. A place where I feel I HELP and make a difference in the lives of those I serve.

I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I have. I don’t want it to take you 7-8 years to get where you want to go. I know it doesn’t have to take that long.

Today I wanted to share with you (as I look back on my long journey) the six things that REALLY helped me get out of several funks, recreate myself and business, and to finally get to a place where I feel like I’m doing what I’m meant to do.

#1 Believe it’s possible to do work you love and get paid (well) for it.

Seriously before you do anything in business…you MUST BELIEVE in yourself and in what you want. You must believe that it’s possible to have it all – on your terms. You don’t have to go through life wishing things were different, but you do have to believe that they can be different. You have to believe you can make them different.

#2 Get help and get over the fear of investing in your business.

You have to get over spending money in business. You have to have a business mindset and all successful business owners INVEST to create more success in their biz. You have to find the RIGHT mentor and spend money with them – you can’t do it alone. It’s a total waste of time to think you can do everything yourself. If the best athlete’s in the world have a coach, then why don’t you? If you are at all serious you need to invest in paid advertising, tools, and on-going education. There is just no way around it. Just pick what you need when you need it.

#3 Winning combo: Mix your heart, intuition, life experiences, and coaching together to be crazy successful.

Here’s the combination I didn’t have. I was always following blueprints and wondering why things weren’t working out for me. Hmm maybe because I wasn’t considering my heart, intuition, life experience and my mentor’s advice…all together. This is sooo important. You need to take bits and pieces of what you learn and put them all together to make YOUR dream biz work.

#4 Focus your energy on ONE thing and set tangible goals.

Okay so most of us are typically multi passionate  – we have a variety of interests and desires and passions. The thing is we also hate feeling trapped into ONE thing. BUT if you want to be successful in business you MUST focus on one thing or one biz at a time in order to build momentum. You can try to build 3-4 businesses at a time, but chances are if you are new-ish to biz that’s not going to work. Take my advice and be sure to work one thing at a time until you have the proper support you need (only then should you move on if you choose to).  Also, goal setting is important otherwise how will you know you’re even on the right track? It’s important to track real tangible goals – not vanity goals like how many ‘likes’ you get on a Facebook post. How much money do you want to make? Do the math and put processes in place. If you want to make $1,000 then what will you sell and how many will you need to sell to make that $1k? Then how much traffic do you need in order to make that $1K?

#5 Work smarter!

Don’t build another job for yourself! Put systems and people in place to help you do what you do best. Make sure you are focusing on the right things like building your email list, creating value for your tribe, and making awesome offers. But don’t forget about using paid advertising, setting up sales funnels, group programs and other things that will help you stop trading time for money. Always think  – how can I leverage the internet so I can build freedom into my biz and life? Just don’t forget to do YOU…what you feel and think is good for your biz.

#6 Trust and enjoy the journey (and don’t forget to celebrate even the smallest of victories)!

OMG how many times do you get frustrated at the lack of success you are having or why so-and-so is so much further along than you? I’ve been there and it’s not fun. So here’s what I practice now – I put on blinders and work on my biz. I TRUST that what I’m doing is going to create what I want in my life. I OWN it. I don’t look back and I keep going forward. I TRY HARD to enjoy every part of this journey. I celebrate the smallest victory! It all comes down to making a decision. A decision to trust, enjoy and celebrate!
